BIG SPACE NYC // BIG SPACE: FEAST
Big Space NYC is a community of creators who have an insatiable desire to explore, elevate, and balance the relationship between health and wellness with food, fun, and indulgence.
Big Space NYC brings people together in a supper club setting to MOVE with celebrated fitness personalities, and to EAT cuisines created by its equally renowned chefs.
We are constantly challenging the traditional notions of entertaining by providing unique outlets for teachers, artists, tastemakers, and influencers to connect over movement and food.
EAT. DRINK. MOVE. MEDITATE. #TheNewNightOut

LAUREN UNGER, CHEF

Our September feast at Exhibit C was one of the the most intimate, yet energetically powerful dinners we have ever hosted! Daphne Cheng's newest endeavor Exhibit C is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and was the perfect location for this event! Exhibit C serves as a blank canvas for culinary events and classes. The modern fixtures and open kitchen served as the perfect backdrop for our Feast!
We began our evening with a blindfolded yoga practice led by Big Space Founder and Instructor Jason Ostrander. The practice was infused with essential oils and many participants expressing how insightful and humbling it was to be blindfolded.
In keeping with our Feast for the Senses theme we covered the table in white faux fur, and sprinkled droplets of eucalyptus and lemon essential oils around the table. Decorations were kept simple so the food could be the star of the show! We always love putting menus in envelopes, it's like opening a present!

After a last minute change, FEAST 6 settled in at Chef Daphne Cheng's amazing space and culinary exploration center, Exhibit C on the Lower East Side. With sponsors, WTRMLN WTR and Pure Green guests enjoyed an evening of delicious cocktails, wine, and amazing plant-based cuisine.
Before settling in to a family-style dinner, guests began the evening with a powerful and intense yoga practice led by Chelsea File. An instructor at Cyc Fitness, Brooklyn Bodyburn and Modo Yoga Chelsea's class fused all of her backgrounds in movement, was heart-opening, and vigorous, with an emphasis on alignment and form.
We are so lucky to have Daphne Cheng as a friend and collaborator. Sticking with the theme of juxtaposition and fusion, Chef Cheng prepared an amazing family-style dinner with influences from ethnic cuisines from around the world. The highlight of the evening was definitely the dessert tacos (think dried fruits, nuts, caramel, banana creme, and purple rice in a tortilla). What we love about working with Chef Cheng is that she comes from a place of spontaneity and FUN, using only the most seasonal ingredients.

"Life cracks us into unrecognizable shards of former incarnations. Slivers of our hurt and our pain and our shame nestles next to fragments of our truth, our divinity, our fierce reclamation of power. It is this very brokenness that allows us to knit together, kaleidoscope style. And we spin and shift and turn to the light until we appear brilliant, lit from within. Suddenly we are revealed; unexpected beauty born directly from brokenness. We have to be willing to break in order to become." - Jeanette Leblanc
